I just found a savings account with a 4.5% interest rate at www.hsbcdirect.com (and no the hsbc has no affiliation with Homeschool Buyers Co-op). There is no minimum balance needed or a minimum to strat the account and you can manage it all on-lline.
According to the above HSBC website the national savings account average interest earned is .46%
