Most matresses and box springs are basically the same thing with a few additons here or there to make them unique. Depending on your negotiation abilities and the salesperson you draw there is a lot of room for saving when you purchase a new mattreess. As much as 50%!

Most brand-name mattresses have the same durability and reliability. Spring Air, Serta, Sealy, and Simmons are usually quite good. What is most important of course is comfort, and that's up to you.
Try all positions ona new mattress you are considering buying to make sure it is comfortable. Spend at least 15 minutes doing this.
Specialty mattresses like Tempur-Pedic, Duxiana and Select Comfortare are not often discounted. You should however be able to get up to 50% off the retail price of a conventional mattress if you wait for a sale or bargain well. Good Luck!
