Summary:Landscaping
Contributor:Sandra Jacobs
Savings:Thousands
Description:You can expect to pay anywhere from 5% to 15% of your homes value on landscaping. Do the math and that can mean at least $10,000 on a median value American home.

Here are some tips for reducing your cost and still doing it right:

-Spend your money on good soil. All the expensive plants won't grow in clay or sand.

-Exchange cuttings and seeds with friends and fellow gardeners.

-Take advantage of FREEBIES from the city. Many cities often give away trees, compost, and mulch.

-Doing it yourself is the best way to save money when you are landscaping, however know when it's time to bring in the pros! Often getting a package deal with a landscaping company can save you some green too.
