Summary:Kids Eat $150.00 + of food a month (that's each!)
Contributor:Sandra Jacobs

Description:To save money when it comes to your children's food, try the following tips
:
Try shopping for a week's worth of groceries in one trip.

Homemade lunches. Don't give in to fast-food. If your kids know it's an option, you'll get little peace.

Go to the market alone and when you are full. With your hands free of children, mind focused, and stomach full, you'll enjoy more time and energy for comparison shopping, therefore making fewer impulse buys.

Buy the families snacks in bulk. You can then repackage them in plastic bags if you wish.

Children will have an interest in what they eat if you try growing even a small portion of your own food, and you will save a bit.
Downside:
Editor's Note:Co-op member Lauri has the following advice- Thnaks Lauri!

Years ago, a mom of 6 said she shot for $1 per person per meal or less(not counting breakfast). I still go by this. It helps me not to feel guilty about spending $8 on a roast. (There are 11 of us) That ends up being $20 a day for 7 days $140 per week for ALL of us together.

Also, find out when your local grocery stores mark down their good meat and shop then and scoop up the bargains!
